Vote on Rest Day Count
Dear fellow Farnham Driver,
As you are all aware there are some significant changes to the payment, allocation and monitoring of Free day Working within the SWT Free Day agreement due to start on 07th April 2014.
Several Drivers at Farnham have expressed a wish that the Free day number count continues as it is and is NOT reset to zero.
At a recent meeting letters from Farnham Drivers were read out specifically requesting that the count remains as it is. Verbal requests have also been made to reset the count to zero as it is a fresh start to a new agreement, giving everyone an equal start.
The changes from the 07th April affect the payment, allocation and monitoring of Free Days to the existing ASLEF sanctioned agreement and the Free Day count is an arrangement between the ORM and the LDC within this agreement.
As all Farnham Drivers have been asked to submit a form indicating their wish to be included /excluded for Free day working from April it is not possible to know until then who intends to work.
A formal proposal was made by a Farnham Driver to allow a vote to take place with regard to the Free Day count.
As your LDC we will take matters forward within the parameters of any subject in a way that is best.
On this occasion a decision was made that the most democratic way of obtaining a clear reflection of feeling was to ask all Drivers to vote on this subject.
A box for the enclosed voting paper will be located in the signing on / notice case room at Farnham from Monday the 10th March until Monday 31st March 2014.
We would like to thank you all for your help with this and ask you to contact us if you have any questions.
The ballot box was opened and voting papers were counted in the mess room this afternoon Monday 31st March 2014
with Russell Maton, Jason Harris and Steve West in attendance.
The results are as follows:
Total Voting Papers sent out 72
Total Returned 59
Total Not Voted 13
No 46
Yes 12
Spoilt 1
Therefore the Freeday count WILL NOT be reset to zero on Monday 7th April 2014
